London, UK – Uganda’s participation at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2025, held from 3rd to 7thNovember at London’s ExCeL Exhibition Centre, was a resounding success, highlighting the country’s cultural richness, natural beauty, and strong female leadership. The Ugandan delegation, led by the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board, the High Commissioner of Uganda to the United Kingdom, and representatives from Uganda Airlines, effectively positioned Uganda as a premier global tourism destination.
The country’s engagement at WTM 2025 featured captivating cultural performances, culinary showcases, and high-level networking. The Luo Cultural Group, Adungu musical ensemble, and traditional Acholi dances drew wide acclaim, while Ugandan coffee and premium local spirits, including Uganda Waragi, Kakira Gin, Vodka, and Rum, offered visitors an immersive taste of the nation’s agritourism and beverage industries. Uganda Airlines highlighted the country’s improved air connectivity, reinforcing its readiness to welcome international tourists.
A highlight of the week was “Uganda Night,” hosted by the Uganda High Commission in London. The grand finale dinner celebrated Uganda’s music, cuisine, and fashion, featuring a Bark cloth runway show by Jose Hendo. Distinguished guests, including UK Parliamentarians, Ambassadors, and representatives from diplomatic missions and the travel industry, attended the event, further strengthening bilateral and business ties.
The WTM participation delivered tangible business outcomes, with Ugandan tour operators establishing new partnerships and securing agreements with international travel agencies. Business-to-Business meetings facilitated discussions on collaborative marketing initiatives and investment opportunities, while media coverage enhanced Uganda’s visibility across global travel platforms.
A notable feature of the delegation was the prominent presence of women in leadership. The leadership of the Uganda Tourism Board CEO, the High Commissioner, and the Uganda Airlines team, complemented by an all-female Uganda Airlines crew, underscored Uganda’s commitment to gender equality, inclusivity, and professional excellence in tourism.
Uganda’s strategic participation reinforced its identity as The Pearl of Africa, promoting biodiversity, adventure tourism, cultural heritage, and sustainable development. The exposure gained, coupled with strengthened partnerships and high-level engagement, is expected to contribute significantly to Uganda’s tourism growth, investment attraction, and international profile as a must-visit destination.
