Kampala, Uganda – Hon. Adonia Ayebare held consultations with H.E. Amb. Jan Sadek, Head of the European Union Delegation to Uganda. Amb. Sadek congratulated Hon. Ayebare on his appointment and conveyed the European Union’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Uganda. He expressed confidence in the Minister’s leadership in advancing Uganda’s foreign policy objectives and in steering regional and multilateral engagement. The two reviewed the breadth of Uganda-EU cooperation, which this year commemorates 50 years of diplomatic engagement.

They reaffirmed the value of the longstanding partnership, grounded in mutual respect, shared values, and a common interest in peace, stability, and sustainable development. They noted the EU’s continued support to Uganda’s development agenda across key sectors, including infrastructure, health, education, and humanitarian assistance.

Hon. Ayebare, on behalf of the Government of Uganda, expressed appreciation to the European Union for its steadfast support over the decades. He underscored Uganda’s commitment to a rules-based international order and to working closely with the EU on matters of regional peace and security, multilateralism, and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Both sides agreed to sustain and intensify cooperation in priority areas, including trade and investment under the Economic Partnership Agreement framework, climate action and green transition, tourism development and cultural exchange, and good governance, democracy, and human rights. They further agreed to maintain regular dialogue and technical engagements to translate these commitments into tangible outcomes for the people of Uganda and the European Union, in pursuit of shared prosperity.
