Letter from the Editor

Margaret Awino Kafeero

April was intense, marking the opening of the last quarter of the Fiscal Year.

Ahead of the new FY Uganda is placing emphasis on activities that boost cross-border infrastructure development.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni joined fellow Heads of State, policymakers and private sector leaders like Aliko Dangote at the Africa We Build Summit 2026 calling for strategic infrastructure investment to drive Africa’s Industrial Transformation.

Bilateral cooperation took centre stage with the 6th Rwanda-Uganda Joint Permanent Commission which took place in Kampala.

Petroleum Development was high on the agenda with Uganda’s Ambassadors participating in the 3rd Kampala Mineral Convention as well as the Petroleum Symposium by the Uganda High Commission, Dar-Es-Salaam. Our envoys had the opportunity to visit the oil fields in Hoima as well as the Kabaale Airport. This and more in these pages.

Don’t miss our cover story on the participation by MFA Gen Odongo Jeje Abubakhar in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Hon. Okello Oryem held talks with UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on Genocide Prevention as well as a number of bilateral meetings

In April we welcomed to the Diplomatic Corps of Kampala, High Commissioner-designate of Kenya, Ababu Namwamba who presented copies of his letters of credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. We wish him a pleasant and successful tour of duty in Kampala.

This month’s special feature goes to Uganda Embassy Paris. We spotlight the Mission, its staff and priority areas this Financial Year.

On the Economic and Commercial Diplomacy front our Missions in Cairo, Ottawa, China, India, Australia and Tanzania were active in the fields of Tourism and Coffee Promotion with Roadshows and business fora. The excitement was palpable and we give you a glimpse of their activities in this issue.

Under the Creative Economy our Missions ventured into content creation of Uganda’s beautiful landscapes with the premiere of two tourism documentaries, the Kampala Premiere of “Back to the Source: The Nile” focusing on Uganda’s Consul General in Guangzhou and the Premiere in Paris of Echapees Belles-Ouganda, on French National TV.

It is truly incredible how much we get up to in the space of a month, it may be busy but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

We invite you to dig into the month of April in review.
