Cairo, Egypt – On April 13, 2026, Uganda took a bold step in strengthening its economic and commercial diplomacy with North Africa as it hosted the Uganda Investment Forum in Cairo under the theme “Invest in Uganda.” Organised by the Uganda Embassy Cairo, the forum convened a high-level audience comprising ministers from both Uganda and Egypt, senior government officials, and a vibrant mix of investors, importers, and exporters eager to explore new business frontiers. The Ugandan delegation was led by Hon Oryem Henry Okello, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Cooperation, Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, and Egypt’s Karim Sheriff. Their presence underscored the importance both nations attach to expanding bilateral ties and enhancing economic collaboration.
Throughout the forum, technical teams from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Uganda Investment Authority, Uganda Chamber of Energy and Minerals, and the Uganda Embassy in Cairo delivered detailed presentations on Uganda’s investment climate. These sessions highlighted the country’s competitive advantages, investment incentives, streamlined processes, and diverse opportunities across sectors such as agriculture, energy, manufacturing, and tourism. Particular emphasis was placed on clearly demonstrating to participants why Uganda stands out as a compelling investment destination.
The key highlight of the forum was the unveiling of 20 bankable, ready-to-implement projects by the Uganda Investment Authority, offering concrete entry points for potential investors. These projects reflected Uganda’s commitment to facilitating private sector participation and accelerating economic growth through strategic partnerships.
To foster direct engagement, Business-to-Government (B2G) sessions were held, providing a platform for investors and traders to interact with Ugandan officials. These sessions addressed a wide range of inquiries and enabled in-depth discussions on specific investment interests. The interactions yielded promising feedback, signalling strong interest in Uganda’s market and laying the groundwork for future deals and collaborations.
Overall, the Uganda Investment Forum in Cairo marked a significant milestone in advancing Uganda–Egypt relations. By creating a platform for dialogue, showcasing viable investment opportunities, and building confidence among potential investors, the forum reinforced Uganda’s position as an attractive and strategic investment hub in Africa.
