Florida, USA – The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Washington, D.C. participated in the inaugural South Florida Travel & Adventure Show at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale. The exhibition marked the first edition of the Travel & Adventure Show in South Florida, one of the fastest-growing travel markets in the United States. The event attracted thousands of travel enthusiasts, tour companies, and travel advisors exploring new global destinations and immersive travel experiences. Uganda’s exhibition booth recorded remarkable engagement, welcoming over 1,000 visitors who expressed keen interest in discovering the country’s unique tourism offerings.

The Embassy participated alongside tour advisors from Uganda, presenting a comprehensive portfolio of the nation’s tourism products. These included wildlife safaris, faith-based tourism, cultural tourism, bird watching, adventure tourism, and community-based experiences. Gorilla trekking generated the highest level of enthusiasm among attendees. Many visitors conveyed strong interest in visiting Uganda specifically for this experience, with one attendee remarking that traveling to Uganda to fulfill a lifelong dream of gorilla trekking had become an immediate priority.

Beyond destination marketing, the exhibition provided a strategic platform for networking and partnership building. Embassy officials engaged U.S.-based travel advisors and tour agencies, particularly those operating in Florida and specialising in African travel. Discussions focused on collaborative marketing strategies, familiarisation trips, and strengthening linkages between American travel planners and Ugandan tour operators to enhance Uganda’s competitiveness within the U.S. outbound travel market.

Participation in the show left both Embassy officers and the accompanying Ugandan travel advisors optimistic about South Florida’s potential as an emerging source market. The region’s large and diverse population, vibrant international travel culture, and expanding network of specialised travel professionals were viewed as strong indicators of future growth in tourist arrivals to Uganda from the United States.
