Their journey began just before Grey’s Jazz Tour to Germany in 2022, where deep conversations about jazz harmony sparked a strong connection among the group.

This vibrant ensemble includes Sebastian Groth on piano, Mathew “Danger” Shitakha on bass, Phillip Odupa on drums, and Eddie Grey on guitar. They’ve delighted audiences in numerous concerts, including tours across Kampala, weaving a sound that feels both innovative and relatable. Without relying on extensive arrangements, the musicians create and improvise in real time, allowing for fresh expressions in every performance. Recently, The Muthaiga 3 was honoured with two invitations to perform at the German Ambassadors Residence in Kampala, on the invitation of H.E Ambassador Mathias Schauer. These concerts are more than just performances; they symboliSe a commitment to international cooperation between Germany, Kenya, and Uganda, showcasing how music can transcend borders.

Bringing in saxophonist Michael Kitanda was a deliberate choice to strengthen these vital connections.
