Berlin, Germany – Uganda reaffirmed its status as one of East Africa’s most promising destinations for investment and tourism during the Germany-Uganda Investment and Tourism Forum at the Westin Grand Hotel in Berlin. Organised under the leadership of Ambassador Stephen Mubiru and coordinated by Minister Counselor Agama Woling Anthony and Tourism Officer Jessica Numuddu, the event brought together German and Ugandan business leaders, investors, policymakers, and travel industry partners.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Mubiru highlighted Uganda’s stable, investor-friendly environment and priority sectors, including tourism, agribusiness, coffee production, renewable energy, infrastructure, and mining. He emphasised the role of Commercial and Economic Diplomacy in advancing national development while building investor confidence through improved regulatory frameworks, security, and infrastructure.
Tourism featured prominently, with insights from a 10-day Familiarisation Tour for German operators who explored attractions such as the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Ewaffe Cultural Village. Uganda’s unique offerings, from the “Big Seven” wildlife safaris to mountain gorillas and over 1,000 bird species, were showcased alongside professional operators, certified guides, modern hotels, and improved connectivity.
Presentations by industry leaders, including May Kamya of Eastern Favourites and Dr. Andreas Hube of BWA Global Network, highlighted strong German interest and the potential for sustainable partnerships. The forum concluded with Ugandan music, dance, and networking, signaling a new era of collaboration and investment between Uganda and Germany.
