Kampala, Uganda – Ugandan businesses and workers stand to benefit from strengthened international partnerships following the visit of a high-level United Kingdom business delegation to Kampala, undertaken at the invitation of the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja the Prime Minister of Uganda during her official visit to the United Kingdom in October 2025. The delegation, convened by the Westminster Africa Business Association and the South Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, brought together 25 leading companies operating across sectors aligned with Uganda’s development framework, including agro-industrialisation, tourism development, mineral-based industrialisation, and science, technology and innovation, alongside manufacturing, renewable energy, digital services, infrastructure, and professional services.

The visit was widely viewed as a practical expression of Uganda’s strategic priorities under the Agro-Industrialisation, Tourism, Mining and Minerals, and Science, Technology and Innovation (ATMIS) programme, which seeks to accelerate inclusive economic transformation through targeted investment and private sector-led growth. Participating firms explored opportunities for joint ventures with Ugandan enterprises, signalling growing international confidence in Uganda’s economic trajectory.

Rt. Hon. Nabbanja welcomed the delegation and facilitated a series of engagements with key government institutions and private sector actors. Her leadership underscored Uganda’s commitment to structured, results-oriented economic diplomacy and to fostering long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships. In her remarks, she emphasised the importance of coordinated engagements that effectively showcase Uganda’s investment potential while aligning credible domestic enterprises with international partners. She expressed confidence that the visit would further consolidate commercial ties between Uganda and the United Kingdom.

The initiative was implemented in close coordination with H.E Nimisha Madhvani, Uganda High Commisioner to London reflecting sustained collaboration between Uganda’s diplomatic missions and international partners. It also demonstrated the United Kingdom’s continued role in convening cross-regional business linkages, including participation from South Asian enterprises, to advance outward-looking economic cooperation.

A business reception hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Uganda provided an additional platform for engagement, enabling deeper interaction between British, Indian, and Ugandan stakeholders. The British High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Lisa Chesney, highlighted the growing momentum within Uganda’s economy and underscored the importance of leveraging complementary expertise across partner countries. She noted that existing UK-linked investments, supported by institutions such as UKEF, BII, and PIDG, had already surpassed £1.3 billion, with further investments in the pipeline.

The delegation’s programme encompassed business-to-business engagements, site visits, and policy dialogues aimed at identifying market opportunities, addressing constraints, and catalysing sustainable partnerships. Particular emphasis was placed on green manufacturing, agro-processing, renewable energy solutions, logistics, and skills development areas critical to Uganda’s long-term competitiveness. The visit reinforced Uganda’s positioning as a viable investment destination and aligned with broader international efforts to promote sustainable economic growth through partnership-driven models anchored in private sector participation.
