Bavaria, Germany – Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama, Uganda’s 3rd Deputy Prime Minister, undertook a strategic visit to Bayern Genetik GmbH and Bayerische Staatsgüter in Germany as part of government efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in agriculture and livestock development.

Emphasis was placed on enhancing dairy productivity, improving herd quality, and promoting sustainable livestock development to support Uganda’s growing agricultural sector.
The delegation also visited Bayerische Staatsgüter, where they were briefed on Germany’s state-managed agricultural research systems, demonstration farms, and farmer training programs. The team toured modern facilities and observed innovative practices in animal husbandry, research integration, and skills development models that could inform Uganda’s agricultural modernisation agenda.
Rt. Hon. Nakadama reaffirmed the Government of Uganda’s commitment to transforming agriculture through science, innovation, and strategic international partnerships. She noted that strengthening livestock genetics and expanding technical knowledge exchange are critical to increasing productivity, raising household incomes, and enhancing national food security.
Hon. Kyakulaga highlighted the importance of adopting modern breeding systems and best agricultural practices to accelerate growth in Uganda’s dairy and beef sectors, in line with national agricultural transformation priorities. The Uganda Mission in Berlin was tasked to continue engagement with both institutions to advance collaboration and facilitate access to improved genetic resources.
In addition, Rt. Hon. Nakadama led Uganda’s delegation to BIOFACH 2026, the world’s leading trade fair for organic food, held in Nuremberg from February 10–13. The delegation included government officials, embassy representatives, civil society, and private sector actors.
