Dusseldorf, Germany – The Uganda Embassy in Berlin, in collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board successfully organised the Uganda–Germany Tourism Roadshow in Duesseldorf, bringing together key stakeholders from Uganda and Germany’s tourism sectors to strengthen tourism partnerships and promote Uganda as a preferred travel destination. These Roadshows are a build up to the 1st Uganda Cultural and Tourism Festival that will be held in Munich from 26th – 28th June 2026.
The Embassy was represented by Ms. Jessica Namuddu, Second Secretary, who delivered remarks on behalf of H.E. Ambassador Stephen Mubiru. In her address, Ms. Namuddu welcomed participants and highlighted the longstanding cordial relations between Uganda and Germany, emphasizing the importance of tourism as a driver of economic growth, cultural exchange, and people-to-people connectivity. She underscored Uganda’s unique tourism offerings, including its rich biodiversity, mountain gorillas, diverse wildlife, scenic landscapes, vibrant cultural heritage, and warm hospitality. She encouraged German tour operators and travel enthusiasts to explore Uganda, famously known as the “Pearl of Africa.”
The roadshow was attended by Mr. Francis Nyende Hatinda, Marketing Manager, UTB; Mr. Vivian Lyazzi, Commissioner Tourism Development; UTB Board Members; representatives from the State House Diaspora Unit led by Mr. Bagonza Mohammed; and tour operators and tourism industry stakeholders from both Uganda and Germany.
Participants engaged in productive discussions on opportunities for collaboration, destination marketing, sustainable tourism development, and strategies to increase tourist arrivals from Germany to Uganda. The event also provided a platform for business-to-business networking between Ugandan and German tour operators aimed at fostering partnerships and expanding tourism packages featuring Uganda. Mr. Nyende presented Uganda’s diverse tourism attractions and investment opportunities within the sector, while emphasizing the country’s readiness to welcome international visitors seeking authentic and memorable travel experiences.
The Mr. Bagonza, Head of the Diaspora Unit highlighted the important role of the Ugandan diaspora in promoting Uganda’s image abroad and supporting tourism, trade, and investment initiatives. The Uganda Embassy in Berlin reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Uganda Tourism Board, tourism stakeholders, and development partners to enhance Uganda’s visibility in the German market and strengthen tourism cooperation between the two countries. The roadshow concluded with renewed commitments from participants to deepen collaboration and promote Uganda as a leading tourism destination for German travelers.
