Delaware, USA – The Adinkra Fellowship has announced its inaugural 2026 Cohort, selecting twenty exceptional Black leaders from a competitive pool of 1,257 applicants spanning 84 countries across Africa and the global diaspora. Among the selected Fellows are distinguished leaders from Uganda, underscoring the country’s growing footprint in global leadership, innovation, and diaspora engagement.
Announced on December 16, 2025, in Delaware, the Fellowship brings together change makers working across technology, governance, education, entrepreneurship, finance, and community development. The cohort reflects a deliberate effort to identify leaders whose work combines professional excellence with measurable social impact and cross-border relevance.
Uganda is represented in the cohort by Brian Kwesiga, an engineer, entrepreneur, and civic leader recognised for strengthening African identity and global diaspora engagement through The eHub Group, as well as Eihorere Wesigye, a strategic investor advancing sustainable African enterprises while fostering collaboration between Africa and its diaspora. Their selection highlights Uganda’s contribution to shaping contemporary African leadership narratives beyond national borders.
The Fellows were chosen through a rigorous, merit-based process overseen by an independent jury composed largely of journalists and media executives, a design intended to ensure transparency, credibility, and public-interest focus. According to the Fellowship’s leadership, the process emphasised not only achievement, but the capacity to mobilise communities and influence systems.
“This cohort represents why the Adinkra Fellowship exists,” said Richard Seshie, Founding Partner of the Fellowship, speaking on behalf of co-founders Imani Missouri and Meron Fikru. He noted that the initiative aims to nurture a generation of leaders capable of navigating complex global challenges through collaboration and shared purpose.As part of the 2026 programme, Fellows will convene in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from February 12 to 15, 2026, for an in-person immersion featuring high-level dialogues, cultural engagement, and collaborative leadership work grounded in African contexts.
Founded in 2023, the Adinkra Alliance Institute positions the Fellowship as a bridge between Africa and its diaspora, strengthening leadership networks while advancing equity, development, and global Black excellence. For Uganda, the selection of its leaders into the inaugural cohort reflects increasing international recognition of the country’s human capital and its role in shaping future-facing African and global leadership conversations.
