Kampala, Uganda – Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon.Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive national development and constructive engagement with religious institutions following a courtesy meeting with the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje. The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala, brought together leaders from the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and government officials to discuss issues of national importance, social cohesion and international cooperation.
During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed the Muslim leadership’s commitment to promoting national unity, peace and stability, while supporting efforts aimed at inclusive socioeconomic transformation. The engagement also emphasised the important role of faith-based institutions in advancing community development, education and humanitarian initiatives across Uganda. Hon. Odongo commended the contribution of religious leaders in fostering harmony and constructive dialogue within society, noting that Uganda’s development agenda requires collective participation from all sectors of the population.
The meeting further underscored Uganda’s continued cooperation with Islamic countries and institutions in areas such as education, trade, investment and social development. Leaders highlighted the value of strengthening partnerships that contribute to economic empowerment and improved livelihoods for communities. The courtesy visit reflected the enduring collaboration between government and religious institutions in promoting unity, development and Uganda’s broader engagement with the international community.
