The Uganda Mission in Algeria, led by Ambassador Julius Joshua Kivuna (PhD.) and Education Attaché Mr. Ronald Tumwiine Ssekitooleko, formally received 79 Ugandan students joining Algerian universities under the Government of Algeria’s annual scholarship programme.

This cohort forms part of the 209 scholarships awarded to Ugandan students in 2025, reaffirming Algeria’s strong commitment to supporting Uganda in building capacity in critical science, technology, and engineering fields.

The arrival of the students marks another milestone in the growing educational cooperation between Uganda and Algeria; an important pillar of bilateral relations. The programme offers full academic training in priority areas such as engineering, renewable energy, computer science, biotechnology and health sciences; fields are key to Uganda’s national development agenda and the advancement of its human capital.

The Uganda Embassy in Algiers provides continuous support to scholarship beneficiaries from the moment they arrive, including orientation, welfare follow-up, and guidance on academic integration. Ambassador Kivuna assured the students of the Mission’s unwavering commitment to their well-being and academic success, encouraging them to serve as ambassadors of Uganda and to take full advantage of the transformative opportunity before them. He extended heartfelt appreciation to the Algerian authorities for their generosity and long-standing partnership in strengthening Uganda’s education sector.

Education Attaché Mr. Ssekitooleko highlighted that the Embassy remains a reliable point of contact for all students, working closely with Algerian institutions to ensure a smooth academic journey. He emphasized the importance of discipline, cultural adaptability, and commitment to excellence as students embark on their studies.

This ongoing educational collaboration stands as a testament to the strong diplomatic ties between Uganda and Algeria and our shared vision of empowering Uganda’s next generation of innovators, scientists, and professionals who will contribute to national development upon their return.
