Cairo, Egypt – The Uganda Embassy in Cairo reinforced Uganda’s economic and commercial diplomacy agenda through its successful participation in two major international exhibitions held in Egypt in January 2026, strengthening Uganda’s visibility as a competitive destination for trade, investment, tourism, and industrial cooperation. From 17th to 19th January 2026, the Embassy participated in the 2026 International Agricultural Exhibition at Nasr City, where it mounted a vibrant and well-curated exhibition stall showcasing Uganda’s agricultural potential and broader economic opportunities. The display highlighted priority areas including agricultural production, agro-processing, tourism promotion, and investment prospects, with particular emphasis on agriculture as a driver of inclusive growth.
Visitors to the Uganda stall engaged actively in product tasting sessions featuring some of Uganda’s leading exports, notably premium coffee and tea, alongside fresh produce such as pineapples, avocados, matooke, cassava, groundnuts, and gonja. The quality, diversity, and market readiness of the products attracted strong interest and positive feedback from exhibitors, buyers, and members of the public. The agricultural exhibition also provided a platform for the Embassy to establish and deepen connections with importers and exporters seeking to source Ugandan products. Engagements extended to key stakeholders in Egypt’s agricultural ecosystem, including actors in agricultural machinery, technology, fertilizers, and regulatory services, opening pathways for future trade partnerships and technical collaboration. In recognition of its effective engagement and presentation, the Uganda Embassy in Cairo received a Certificate of Recognition for Excellent Participation, underscoring Uganda’s growing international profile in agricultural promotion.
Earlier in the month (9-12 January 2026), the Embassy team participated in the International Plastics Exhibition held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in New Cairo. As one of the world’s leading exhibitions for plastics, rubber, packaging, petroleum-related products, and recycling industries, the event attracted professional visitors and exhibitors from over 60 countries, showcasing advanced technologies and industrial solutions critical to modern manufacturing and sustainable development. Through targeted engagements with manufacturers, technology providers, and industry leaders, the Embassy explored opportunities for trade, investment, and industrial cooperation. Several potential partners were identified for linkage with Ugandan companies and relevant government agencies, with a view to encouraging technology transfer, industrial upgrading, and growth in Uganda’s plastics, manufacturing, and recycling sectors. Collectively, the two exhibitions demonstrated Uganda’s integrated approach to economic diplomacy, leveraging international platforms to promote exports, attract investment, foster industrial partnerships, and position Uganda as an emerging hub for sustainable trade and production in Africa.
