Kampala, Uganda – On 17th April 2026 Hon. John Mulimba, Minister of State for Regional Cooperation, on the received copies of the Letters of Credence from Ambassador Ababu Namwamba, High Commissioner-Designate of the Republic of Kenya to Uganda.
Hon. Mulimba congratulated His Excellency on his appointment and pledged the Ministry’s full support and cooperation to ensure a most successful tour of duty in Kampala. The Minister underscored the historic bilateral relations subsisting between the two Republics, anchored in a shared heritage and a common aspiration for regional peace, prosperity, and the deepening of East African integration.
Ambassador Namwamba expressed profound appreciation for the gracious and warm reception extended to him by the Government and people of Uganda. He identified the consolidation of peace and security cooperation, together with the enhancement of trade and investment, as principal pillars of his mandate. He further affirmed that Kenya attaches high importance to collaboration with Uganda in priority sectors, including tourism and joint infrastructure development, as initiatives that catalyse investment, promote value addition, and generate employment for the mutual benefit of both nations and the shared commitment to strengthening people-to-people linkages and expanding bilateral trade through fast-tracking regional integration and the progressive elimination of non-tariff barriers to cross-border commerce.
