Kampala, Uganda – On 13 February 2026, Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened its doors not only to an artist, but to an idea whose rhythm travels farther than borders. Mrs. Margaret Kaferero, Head of Public Diplomacy, together with her team, hosted celebrated Ugandan hip-hop pioneer Navio (Daniel Kigozi Jr.) at the Ministry headquarters for a strategic dialogue on culture as a pillar of global engagement.
At the heart of the meeting was The Navio X Project, an ambitious multimedia heritage initiative designed to fuse music, film, and lived cultural experience into a diplomatic instrument. More than entertainment, the project envisions culture as a strategic export a living archive capable of strengthening Uganda’s international profile, stimulating tourism, and attracting values-driven investment.
Round-table discussions explored how creative industries can transcend geography, dismantle stereotypes, and build bridges of understanding between nations. Mrs. Kaferero underscored the Ministry’s recognition of art as soft power in motion. “Art and culture are among the most persuasive ambassadors a nation can deploy,” she noted. “They humanize diplomacy, deepen mutual respect, and position Uganda as a country of depth, diversity, and opportunity.”
Through documentary-style storytelling, The Navio X Project will traverse Moroto, Jinja, Karamoja, Gulu, Mbale, Kapchorwa, Butaleja, and Fort Portal engaging indigenous communities and immersing global audiences in Uganda’s music, dance, rituals, cuisine, and sacred heritage sites. Each encounter will be translated into sound and screen, weaving contemporary artistry with ancestral memory.
Beyond preservation, the initiative signals economic foresight. By packaging heritage as both narrative and experience, Uganda stands poised to convert cultural capital into sustainable development pathways inviting travelers, scholars, creatives, and investors into authentic partnership.
Expressing appreciation for the Ministry’s collaboration, Navio affirmed that culture is Uganda’s timeless signature. In harmonising diplomacy with artistic expression, this partnership marks a confident step toward a future where Uganda’s story is not only told but heard, felt, and globally embraced.
