Guangzhou, China – The Uganda Consulate in Guangzhou conducted a week-long Staff Training Exercise from December 8 to 12, 2025, aimed at strengthening economic diplomacy efforts across southern China. Conducted under the Theme “Enhanced Understanding of Uganda’s Economic and Commercial Diplomacy(ECD) Strategy,” the Training brought together Consulate staff to enhance their capacity to promote Uganda’s trade, investment, tourism, and overall economic cooperation in the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi Autonomous Region, and Hainan.
The program focused on Uganda’s priority areas of Economic and Commercial Diplomacy, Agro-Industrialisation, Tourism Promotion, Mineral Development, and Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI). Participants received practical training on identifying business opportunities, enhancing Uganda’s visibility, and forging stronger partnerships with key stakeholders in one of China’s fastest-growing economic regions.
The exercise also included strategic planning sessions to review ongoing initiatives and develop new approaches for engaging the Chinese market more effectively. By equipping staff with updated skills, knowledge, and sector insights, the Consulate aims to enhance Uganda’s competitiveness and expand its presence in Southern China’s trade, tourism, and investment landscape.
This Training marks another milestone in the Consulate’s commitment to advancing Uganda’s national development agenda through proactive and results-driven Economic Diplomacy.
