ROME, ITALY
On 13 November, H.E. Amb. Elizabeth Paula Napeyok welcomed delegates to a high-level advocacy event on Food Safety and Codex for African Missions in Rome, underscoring the growing importance of health diplomacy in advancing Africa’s development agenda. She emphasised that active participation in Codex work presents a critical opportunity for Uganda and the continent to influence global food standards that safeguard public health, expand trade, and strengthen regional competitiveness.
Amb. Napeyok noted that stronger African engagement would ensure the continent’s priorities are reflected in international regulations, ultimately promoting safer food systems, increased market access, and long-term prosperity.
