Prague, Czech Republic – Uganda’s diplomatic mission Berlin continues to deepen economic and institutional ties following a high-level engagement between Amb. Danny Ssozi, Deputy Head of Mission, and Mr. Radek Jakubský, Vice President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce in Prague. The meeting focused on advancing Uganda–Czech Republic cooperation in trade, investment promotion, tourism development, business diplomacy, and institutional partnerships. It formed part of Uganda’s broader economic diplomacy strategy aimed at attracting foreign direct investment and strengthening international commercial linkages.
One of the key outcomes of the discussion was a mutual agreement to work toward a Memorandum of Understanding between the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Czech Chamber of Commerce. This framework is expected to formalise collaboration in trade facilitation, business networking, and private sector development between the two countries. Both parties also agreed to organise a Uganda–Czech Executive Business Breakfast in Prague scheduled for 22 June 2026. The high-level engagement will bring together key investors, business leaders, and institutional stakeholders to explore opportunities in priority sectors.
Mr. Jakubský expressed strong interest in expanding future business delegations to Uganda, particularly in agriculture, manufacturing, infrastructure development, ICT, and tourism. He further highlighted Uganda’s tourism potential, especially in eco-tourism, cultural exchange, and gorilla trekking experiences, as areas of high investment interest for Czech businesses.
The discussions also explored possibilities for parliamentary and institutional engagement at a higher political level, including a prospective visit to Uganda by senior Czech leadership. Such engagements are expected to strengthen bilateral relations and open new avenues for cooperation beyond trade, including governance and institutional exchange. Amb. Ssozi emphasised Uganda’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for foreign investment through policy reforms, improved business facilitation, and proactive diplomatic outreach. He noted that Uganda’s foreign missions are increasingly prioritizing economic diplomacy as a key pillar of international relations.
The meeting further reinforced the importance of structured partnerships between private sector institutions in both countries. By linking chambers of commerce, Uganda and the Czech Republic aim to build sustainable business networks that benefit entrepreneurs and investors on both sides. the engagement was highly productive and marked a significant step forward in strengthening Uganda’s economic diplomacy footprint in Europe. It reflects Uganda’s continued efforts to position itself as a competitive investment destination while building long-term partnerships that support mutual economic growth and development.
