The Uganda Embassy in Brussels, in partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and various Ugandan tour operators, has actively promoted Uganda to tourists in the BENELUX countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg). This initiative is a strategic effort to highlight Uganda as a vibrant tourism destination.
The Embassy’s engagement began with participation in the Belgian Expo in Ghent, aimed at tourism stakeholders, where the focus was on expanding tourism investment opportunities. The event provided a valuable platform to showcase Uganda’s rich cultural heritage, diverse wildlife, and stunning landscapes to potential investors and to meet Belgian tour operators willing to add Uganda to their travel portfolio.
On January 3rd and 4th the Embassy participated in the Ying Ying Travel Expo in Geel, which specifically targeted Dutch-speaking communities in Geel and Hasselt, allowing Ugandan representatives to connect with local tourists and promote Uganda’s unique travel offerings. Further expanding its outreach, the Uganda Mission joined forces with 7 tour operators at the Amsterdam Travel Expo, generating an impressive 260 leads. This significant turnout highlights the growing interest in Uganda as a tourist destination among potential visitors from the Netherlands.
From January 8th to 11th, the Embassy collaborated with nine Ugandan tour operators at the Utrecht Vakantie Travel Expo, one of the largest and most vibrant annual events in the region. Ugandan tour operators successfully generated 340 leads during this expo, further solidifying Uganda’s position as an appealing travel choice.
Looking ahead, the Embassy has organised a Uganda stand at the Antwerp Travel Expo which will present even more opportunities. Additionally, the Embassy is in the advanced stages of organising the upcoming Gorilla Road Show, scheduled to take place from February 24th to 28th in Luxembourg, Ghent, and Utrecht. This event will feature 18 Ugandan tour operators and aims to attract an impressive 280 leads while pursuing a potential revenue generation target of 9 billion in tourism.
Through these initiatives, the Uganda Embassy and its partners are not only promoting tourism but also fostering international relationships and investment opportunities that can benefit both Uganda and the BENELUX region. This continued focus on showcasing Uganda’s tourism potential is expected to have a lasting impact on attracting visitors and enhancing the country’s global presence in the tourism sector.
