Entebbe, Uganda – H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni bade farewell to H.E. Ambassador Maria Håkansson, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Uganda, as she concluded her diplomatic tour of duty. The farewell engagement marked the culmination of a distinguished tenure dedicated to strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Uganda and Sweden. The meeting was also attended by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo, who joined the President in recognising Ambassador Håkansson’s contribution to advancing cooperation between the two countries.

President Museveni expressed his appreciation for her steadfast commitment to enhancing the Uganda–Sweden partnership, acknowledging her role in fostering collaboration across a broad range of sectors, including development cooperation, governance, trade, environmental sustainability, humanitarian assistance, and inclusive economic growth. He commended the Ambassador for her dedicated service and wished her continued success in her future diplomatic assignments, noting that her tenure had further strengthened the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Uganda and the Kingdom of Sweden.

The farewell also reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to deepening their longstanding partnership, founded on mutual respect, shared values, and a common aspiration for sustainable development, peace, and prosperity.  As Ambassador Håkansson departs Uganda, both nations look forward to building upon the strong foundation established during her tenure and advancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of their peoples.
