The Department of Regional Peace and Security held a farewell dinner at Silver Spoons Restaurant, Nakasero, in honour of three departing colleagues:
- Dr. Edith Namutebi – Head of Department, proceeding to Abuja
- Ms. Annet Nasejje – proceeding to London
- Mr. Andrew Kangahho – proceeding to Juba
The evening was marked by warm and heartfelt tributes from colleagues, who commended the departing officers for their professionalism, dedication and distinguished service to the Ministry. Special tribute was paid to Dr. Namutebi, who has served as Head of Department for close to two years, a period during which RPS registered remarkable achievements in leading the Ministry’s drive to promote regional peace and security. Speakers noted that under her stewardship, the Department strengthened its coordination, visibility and strategic impact.
Colleagues described her as a visionary leader with an uncompromising standard of excellence and a strong work ethic, who deliberately built and empowered staff to achieve their best. It was observed that she combines intellectual depth with strategic clarity and leads by example. Her humane leadership was equally celebrated. She was spoken of as the motherly anchor of the Department, genuinely committed to staff welfare, attentive to colleagues’ concerns and steadfast in advocating for their interests. Several speakers noted that she created a safe, respectful and motivating environment where everyone felt valued.
She was further praised for her sincerity and principled character – authentic, truthful, morally courageous and able to give a firm YES or NO without ambiguity, a quality noted as rare and highly valued in diplomacy. Colleagues also highlighted her empathy and wise counsel, often drawing from her abundant personal and professional experiences.
Ms. Nasejje was described as the fulcrum of RPS – quiet, dependable and central to the Department’s daily work – and praised for her remarkable patience, humility, eagerness to learn and quick ability to adapt.
Mr. Kangahho was commended as a fast learner, collaborative team player and kind, approachable colleague, always willing to support others.
The Department thanked them for their exemplary service and wished them every success in their new assignments.
