RSCE Ushers in a New Era with Successful Takeover of Key UN Support Services from KJSO

Entebbe, Uganda – The Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) entered a new chapter after successfully assuming key administrative and transactional functions previously managed by the Kuwait Joint Support Office (KJSO), reinforcing its role as a trusted provider of shared services for United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Effective 1 July 2026, the transition marked the successful completion of an eight-month phased process designed to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance service delivery and expand support to UN client missions. The carefully managed handover underscores the UN’s commitment to continuous improvement and client-focused service delivery.

The transition began with a pilot phase from November 2025 to January 2026, followed by a full transition phase between February and June 2026. Throughout the process, RSCE and KJSO worked closely to validate procedures, transfer institutional knowledge and ensure operational readiness before the official handover.

To guarantee uninterrupted support, both entities implemented a structured overlap period in which KJSO finalized existing workloads while RSCE gradually assumed responsibility for new transactions. Regular stakeholder consultations, dedicated working groups and close coordination enabled a smooth transfer of responsibilities and ensured business continuity.

Under its expanded mandate, RSCE now oversees a broad range of critical services, including travel administration, claims processing, education grants, human resources support, accounts payable, financial reporting, cashier services, bank reconciliations and the monitoring of financial open items and rejected payments. These additional responsibilities significantly strengthen the Centre’s ability to provide integrated and responsive support to its clients.

Speaking on the milestone, RSCE Director Paulin Djomo commended the dedication and professionalism demonstrated throughout the transition. “The successful transition of services from KJSO to RSCE reflects the dedication, professionalism and teamwork of colleagues across both entities,” he said, adding that the Centre remains committed to delivering efficient, reliable and client-centred services that enable UN missions to implement their mandates effectively.

Beyond expanding its service portfolio, the transition has generated valuable lessons in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, knowledge transfers and collaboration. As RSCE builds on these experiences, it is well positioned to provide even greater value to client missions and further strengthen the delivery of shared services across the United Nations peacekeeping community.
