Accra, Ghana – Uganda and Ghana have reaffirmed their longstanding diplomatic relations and shared commitment to advancing multilateral cooperation, regional integration and sustainable development during high-level engagements held in Accra. The Permanent Secretary of Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Vincent Bagiire Waiswa, met with his counterpart, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, Chief Director at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, in discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two African nations.

The meeting focused on reaffirming the warm relations shared by Uganda and Ghana, while exploring opportunities for deeper collaboration in diplomacy, trade, education, investment and cultural exchange. Both sides also underscored the importance of maintaining a united African voice on global matters through international platforms such as the United Nations and the African Union.

Both Officials highlighted the need for stronger South–South cooperation and emphasised the role of African diplomacy in addressing emerging global challenges, including economic transformation, climate resilience and peacebuilding. The engagement further reflected the shared vision of both countries toward inclusive growth and sustainable development across the continent. The meeting in Accra demonstrated the continued commitment by Uganda and Ghana to strengthening political ties and fostering partnerships that contribute to regional stability, economic progress and Africa’s collective aspirations on the global stage.
