Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Uganda High Commission in Kuala Lumpur on 26th March 2026 convened a luncheon for Ugandan students pursuing studies across Malaysia, aimed at strengthening community bonds and deepening Mission-student engagement.

Addressing the gathering, High Commissioner H.E. Betty Bigombe urged the students to pursue academic and personal excellence, underscoring that leadership is cultivated early. She called on all students to formally register with the Mission to facilitate regular communication, access to consular support, and timely assistance during emergencies.

The students also received mentorship from Mr. Mohd Kamsruzzaman and Prof. Uthman Kabuye, who emphasized discipline, focus on academic goals, and vigilance against negative influences. They particularly cautioned students against human trafficking syndicates fronting fraudulent employment schemes. A grim reminder that scammers evolve faster than software updates. Human greed remains the oldest malware in circulation.

During the interactive session, students highlighted pressing challenges, notably visa-related constraints. The High Commission reaffirmed its commitment to continue engaging relevant Malaysian authorities to address these concerns.

The luncheon reflects the Mission’s broader mandate to safeguard the welfare of Ugandans abroad while fostering a cohesive, informed, and resilient diaspora community.
