KAMPALA, UGANDA
Uganda’s tourism sector received a major boost this year through the work of Lorraine Simpson, a US-based tourism expert originally from Ireland, who has been collaborating with the Uganda Embassy in Washington, DC.
On 14 November, Ms. Simpson trained 111 Ugandan tour agents at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Kampala, before travelling with a group to Bwindi, where they launched the Echoes of Ubuntu community CBO.
Earlier in June 2025, Ms. Simpson brought 35 American tour agents to the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE), and she is set to mobilise even more global firms to attend POATE 2026.
Working with UTB and the New York Mission, Uganda plans strong participation in major US travel shows in early 2026.
